I miss MLB just playing the damn games. What's going to delay the start of one of the World Series games by 40 minutes this year? The All-Time lefthanded team, presented by Mastercard? Cue the music from "The Natural" and let's trot out the old guys again!

They needed third and fourth jerseys back then. They only did laundry once a month. :)

It's funny - I always wondered why the undersocks were called "sanitaries."

Anybody else update their card collections as players were traded or cut?

think the full name is sanitary hose (possibly because they are white)
stirrups are worn over them. haven't heard anyone say sanitary hose in
    a long time though.

Dave Rosello is extremely offended you didn't mention his card.

The epicenter of my baseball card interest was 1986, and this guy was always around:

I did, would move them from the Team A slot in the blue and white cardboard box with baseball players all over it that had little dividers and a place to write the team name at the top to the Team B slot. It always seemed like I had more Oakland A's than anyone else, too. Never understood it.

I had an old wooden Pepsi case that had a slot for every team until MLB added Toronto & Seattle.

Baseball cards got ruined when people started looking at them like investments instead of something to trade and put in your bike spokes. I blame the 1984 Topps Darryl Strawberry and the 1985 Dwight Gooden. Then, in 1991, Upper Deck put the Hank Aaron autograph card randomly in packs, and a Nolan Ryan as well (I think) and started all this insert card crap that killed everything. I miss the gum, too.

  10. He wasn't around much longer after that photo was taken. Died later that year.

Dude looks about 45. And I remember the 1973 set. A Jim Breazeale in every pack.

True that, Carlton. I remember the Upper Deck Ken Griffey Jr. rookie also making collectors' knees shake.
