That quiz was great. 14 of 15 (missed on the Brett card.) Seven of them were from my prime collecting years, 1987-93.

Marge Schott was a good owner at the beginning. She just went a little too far.

Other, of course, than the Gabe Paul Indians that still torment my memory. Tom Veryzer, Duane Kuiper, Larry Sorensen, Tom Buskey, Boog Powell, Rico Carty, Ron Washington, Dan Spillner, Sid Monge...the names just roll on and on.

Kal Daniels was good, but he was no Glenn Erick Braggs (I admit, I had to look that up)...mostly b/c Braggs ended up marrying one of the ladies from En Vogue.

The Brett one was the only Topps one I missed and I was pissed. I used to remember
the years for everyone's rookie card. remember the 82 ripken when he was one of 3
orioles prospects. no clue who the others were but i do have 3 or 4 of those somehwere
at my parents' house. the gwynn 83 was cool with the little pic in the circle.

She actually kissed my cheek at a game in '86. We were sitting right behind her in the boxes behind the dugout and I chatted her up, threw some game her way (just kidding about that). But she did say I was a "sweet young man" and kissed my cheek.
Oh, another thing I miss, "Green Seat" homers at Riverfront. And The Cobra patrolling right.

And then she scolded you for keeping score on two sheets of paper.

I thought Glenn Erick was going to be a stud. Dude could hit the ball nine miles. He was like Pedro Cerrano in Major Leagues, throw him a hook and he misses it by two feet. I was a big William Augustus Hatcher fan. Loved the 1990 Series.

I miss knowing who owned each team. The actual guy. I think I can name maybe five now.

Now we have groups and managing partners, majority partners etc. It's hard to get pissed at 30 different people for running a crappy operation.

Speaking of keeping score - I can't believe there are people that keep score on a PDA instead of a scorecard. Unless you're drawing a check for doing it, that's just plain wrong.

Good God, keeping score on a PDA should be grounds for being beaten with a regulation Louisville Slugger.

Or having to get kissed by Marge Schott. Wait. Too late for that. I gotta go to sleep. Later.

The Kal Daniels reference reminded me how Donruss would have 20-something Rated Rookies every year, including a handful of guys who were already like 32 and had no chance at a fruitful big league career. Like...
