I've been strongly discouraged from hanging my collage anywhere in the plain view of company. Not even the bathroom is acceptable. More like the garage.

I'm just really glad I'm not the only guy who has one.

1 - Seeing my first MLB game at Cleveland Stadium in, I think, 1957 and watching the Yankees play the Indians. Joe Caffie, who hit all of three home runs in his 44-game major league career, hit a home run that day.

2 - Driving seemingly endlessly with my parents another day when neither of them would tell either my brother or myself where we were going. After a couple of hours we were getting pretty fussy when my dad looked back at us and said "I don't know where you're going, but I'm going to watch the Tigers." And before long, we were at old Tiger Stadium.

3 - Day games in the World Series.

    4 - No designated hitters

5 - No wild-card teams, just the two league champions in the World Series.

And that song "It's a beautiful day for a ballgame, for a ballgame today ..." on WGN as they came on the air.

Garvey at first, Lopes at second, Russell at short, Cey at third, Sutton on the mound pitching to Yeager, and Lasorda running out to argue.

I miss hating those Dodgers. The Dodgers have been a lot more of a challenge to hate in the last 20 years.

I miss seeing a ball flying over the Green Monster and not seeing yuppies.

I was the happiest 10-year-old in America when the ball sailed over the center-field fence at Olympic Stadium. Goddamn sweet!
