I miss fat guys likes Greg Luzinski, Mickey Lolich and Rusty Staub...as a fat little kid, they made me believe that you didn't have to be that athletic to play baseball.

Never understood why Jim Fanning brought a starting pitcher, basically the team's ace, in for relief. Was the bullpen that bad/unreliable?

    Indeed.

Maybe the '93 Stanley Cup final was payback of sorts?

Sandwiched as it was between World Series spankings of the Braves and Phillies by the other Canada's Team (MLB edition).

I remember freezing my ass off in the open air, unheated press box in that miserable hell hole know as Stade Olympique.

If the Habs need to win Stanley Cups that way, let 'em have it.

    I miss 1975.
Me (unemployed college grad) and my brother (unemployed after receiving a medical discharge from the Navy) went to about 60 games that summer. Sat in the left-field pavilion. $1.50 tickets, $2 to park. We're in the stadium and we've spent only $5. Enough cash left for a few beers and dogs.
One of the ushers out there was named Lee Lacy. Every night, by brother would shout out to him. "Hey Lacy, get back down there at second base." But Jimmy Wynn, The Toy Cannon, he was the man.
Funniest thing I remember. Reds are in town, huge crowd. Pete Rose leads off for the Reds and when his name is announced, a guy wearing a Reds 14 jersey with ROSE on the back, stands up and starts waving his arms. He is in the front row and facing the field. People are yelling and throwing shit at him. He turns around and he is wearing an Alfred E. Newman mask.
