I remember seeing Shines play a Florida State League game when I was on vacation a million years ago. I thought that was the coolest name ever.

Was a huge Expos fan, especially in the years before the Jays came along. Looked forward to the one game a week we got on TV (always seemed to be against the Mets) with Dave Van Horne and Duke Snider behind the mike. Switched my alleginace to the Jays in 1977 but was still mighty pissed at Rick Monday in 1981 and MLB in 1994 for shutting down the season when the Expos were the best team in the game. I have a program and a copy of the media notes from their final home game courtesy of a friend who did the telecast.

As a Jays fan I miss the $2 (later $4) bleacher seats we used to get at the Ex, the funny baseball 101 ads the team did in its first year with Arte Johnson, Tom Cheek and Early Wynn, the great rivalry they had back in the day with the Tigers and Royals, Tony Kubek doing colour on TV and later Dan Shulman and Buck Martinez....

I can remember Vin and Joe doing a Friday night game a few times in the mid-'80s.

For a kid without cable, those opportunities meant everything.

As a Met fan, I miss the classic Kiner's Korners of the 60s and 70s.

Spot on there, JC. "Tony and Don, I was just talking to pitching coach Al Widmar...."

Fuck off, Fergie, go back to Just Like Mom.

It's only been a few years since the split, but I miss vintage Maddux, Smoltz and Glavine.

I miss watching the Braves' night games at 4:30 p.m. on TBS.

I miss watching the Mets' night games at 4:30 p.m. on WOR.

I miss watching the Cubbies' games on WGN.

Cable TV and baseball in the mid- to late-'80s was a California latch-key kid's best friend.

She is a definite MILF. Apparently she apprenticed on Just Like Mom but I never recall watching it.
