What is that, some kind of garbage belt?

Double knit uniforms had elastic waste bands. Players didn't wear a belt.

you guys really miss those mid-70's uniforms? I thought those things were horrible.

So let me get this straight. The pants had bands, and players put their waste in there. Like maybe they'd be eating a sandwich in the outfield, and then they'd tuck the napkin in the waste band.

Since you missed the subtlety of the first attempt to correct you, are you sure you don't mean "waist" bands? :D

EDIT: Ah, ArnoldBabar beat me to it!

Yeah, 2001 has to be somewhere in discussion of great Game 7s. Overall, that series had some stinkers -- Games 1, 2 and 6 come to mind. But that Game 7 was amazing.

Haven't read the whole thread, but have read enough of it to notice a running theme on the nighttime playoff starts. Amen.
When was the last time an LCS or World Series game started in the afternoon?
I know the 2004 ALCS had a couple of afternoon starts. It was funny that those extra-inning Game 4 and 5 ended just in time to catch the end of the Cards-Astros, which will go down as one of the great underrated playoff series of all-time since nobody saw it.
As for the World Series, was it in the early 80s?

I think WS Game 6 in 1987 was the last scheduled Eastern/Central afternoon start. And that one started at like 5 p.m. Central time.

I remember the clinching Game 5 of the 1984 WS being on a Saturday afternoon, and 1985 being the first all-night game Series.

There might have been a late-afternoon start on a weekend, but the games were still essentially intended to be played in prime time.
