Back to things we miss, the late great Howard Cosell giving us his take on baseball.

    Sirs, Madames,

    1. Sneaking beer into the Big Owe ... okay, it's not sneaking if the case is open and you're draining one when you walk through the turnstiles, but you get my point.

    2. Bumping into the visiting players on the subway after games at the Big Owe.

    3. Announcements in French.

    4. Seagulls at Jays home games.

    5. Coming out of Jays games at Exhibition Stadium and going directly to the midway or food building during the CNE.

    6. Worrying about my car parked four blocks away from Tiger Stadium.

A few were quite good. Phillies, Expos, Angels, Blue Jays, Rangers. I even have a soft spot for those Braves uniforms for some reason.

At least they look better than those insipid "alternate" dark jerseys that so many teams wear today.

And if I remember correctly, the Cubs did not wear shit like this in the 70s:

These road unis were so epically bad that they're cool.

EDIT: Damn, beat me to it.

Loved those Saturday NBC day games.

I like those uni's. Probably better than any road uni's the Cubs have worn since I've been following baseball, including the garish blue roads they wore in the 80s.

Or, for me, Street & Smith's baseball annual.

Good call. Seeing that on the newsstand every February always brightened the dead of winter.
