Meanwhile, the last tennis player to, you know, actually COMPLETE a Grand Slam and the male tennis player with the most Grand Slam titles are still waiting for their "career achievement" awards. As is the current No. 1 male player, whose points lead is even wider than the female No. 1 player.

Oh, that's right. They never threatened to shove a fucking ball down a linesperson's fucking throat.

How do they look splayed out on a throne in a leotard?

If I read the rationale for Williams correctly, she's the pick for cultural/contextual reasons beyond on-the-court achievement. That's fine, but I disagree. Williams is a superior, dominant tennis player, one of the greats. She's just not a remarkable person off the court. You have to work pretty hard to dismiss some of the flakiness Williams wears like a badge of honor.

Did they get that woman who was splooging about her "grace" after she lost the US Open to do the story?

SI is getting what it wants. Picking Serena and the cover shot are talkers. Steph Curry is boring, American Pharaoh is almost as dull. They're deserving, sure, but so what? They get chosen, no one cares enough to complain/debate for very long.

Especially now since we know we aren't going to be seeing Curry's wife in a bikini on the cover.
