I agree. At first I thought, well Curry is pretty young, and figured he needed another season or two to cement his status, but the start he's on is crazy.

Kept shaking my head last week reading Jon Wertheim's "The Case for Serena Williams."

She did absolutely nothing that Novak Djokovic didn't also do, and she did not do some of the things he did do.***

    Grand Slams: Serena 3 (W,W,W,SF), Djokovic 3 (W,F,W,W)
Season-ending Tour Finals: Serena DNP, Djokovic won.
    2015 record: Serena 53-3, 5 titles; Djokovic 82-6, 11 titles

Only nine athletes from outside the US have won the thing, five solo honorees. If Federer never won it, Djokovic has no shot.

One one solo honoree from a non-English speaking country.

Of course Djokovic won't get it. Just don't insult us by telling us why Serena should, OK, SI?

Lifetime achievement award in a year when there were better candidates. Oh, well. Something to debate, I guess.

At least that damn horse didn't win.

I wanted the horse, but Serena's OK by me. Dick, many Sportspersons of the Year have been awarded for career accomplishment. It's not always who had the best year/season in their sport. Also, didn't she win three majors? That's a bad year?

Who said it was a bad year? I wanted the horse or Curry.

Certainly this was decided before the Warriors lost Saturday night. Still, that loss surely caused a sigh of relief at SI HQ as loud as cheers during the playoffs at CenturyLink Field.
