What, no "Chasing Cars?"

 

A couple recent ones here I have to comment on ...

"Blue" by the Jayhawks ... How this song didn't become one of the biggest songs in the country in the mid-1990s proves that the music/radio radio industries are FUBAR

"Country Feedback" by REM. Went to the Vote for Change show in St. Paul in 2004 -- Springsteen/REM/others. Surprise guest Neil Young came out to play Country Feedback with REM. Great stuff.

Just listened to those songs back to back on the laptop. Beautiful indeed.

 

So many great songs already mentioned, especially "Outfit" and "Goddam Lonely Love" by DBT and "Moonlight Mile" by the Stones.

I want to add "I Know You By Heart" by the late Eva Cassidy. She had an incredible voice. I can't listen to this song anymore, because it reminds me of my dad and even thinking about the song makes me cry.

That entire Jayhawks album is outstanding. In my mind, the best album of the entire decade. It is indeed a shame the music industry whiffed so badly on that (among many, many others, I think it's safe to say).

 

Great call. Also, "Love of My Life" from that same album certainly has a place on this thread.
