Never heard of JJ Grey until my last.fm station started playing him. Good stuff.

From a CD of a couple of years ago that I'm just listening to now:

No One's Ever Going to Love you by Band of Horses.
    Also, Cataracts by Andrew Bird.
For some Canadian content, Try by Blue Rodeo . . . or the entire Five Days In July album by the same band.

Wish they'd come up my way and play.

Missed him recently and am still pissed about it. Does he still do his DBT songs? I'm determined to see him the next time he passes through town, regardless. Love Dress Blues.

    "Evidence of Autumn" -- Genesis

I'm sure Sam Mills 51 can explain the history and raison d'etre of the song -- which I think was a B-side of "Misunderstanding" -- but I just love it.

Most Sarah McLachlan tracks would also fit the description for me, though trying to find links just crashed my (work) PC.

    DD,

Last time I saw him, in March, he did God Damn Lonely Love, Danko/Manuel, Outfit and Never Gonna Change. The previous three times I saw him, he did all those and Decoration Day. He has played Dress Blues every time. The band, with the guitarist as the lead singer, also does a great version of Psycho Killer every show. Pattrson Hood's Assassin, which Isbell does much better as an electric version, is usually a staple of the shows, too. He's playing 90 minutes away from me next month. I'll almost surely make that show. I'm hoping he plays "When The Well Runs Dry," a song he wrote (well, a friend wrote it, according to the video) for DBT that is on their newest release, The Fine Print. Here's a version I found online. It fits with this thread.

I saw the movie in a theater, and the scene where they pay this song just made me bust out crying for some reason. And I know many people who have said the same thing. What's weird is that it's so early in the film and we're really not even emotionally invested in these people yet. Just something about it.
