I use XM like I have an eternal boner and it's the only woman for 1,000 miles around. Car, home, work through the computer. It's The Soundtrack For My Shitty Life.

Suggestion for a channel: 24-hour New Jack (the early 90's R&B sub-genre, not the sloppy and occasionally felonious wrestler, though that might not be a bad idea either).

Hank, it's like $12 a month. I pay $38 or so every three months. I love my XM, use it at home and on the road. If I was rarely in the car, I probably wouldn't need it. But I practically live there, so, yeah, it's nice to have.

    Underline that.

The FCC is not going to look favorably upon a satellite radio monopoly. This is far from happening.

I guess that depends on whether they consider sat radio a distinct entity, or if they consider it just a competior in the general radio market, going up against terrestial and HD radio.

You can use satellite radios on planes? When you're flying?

I'm not trying to be a smart ass here. Serious question. If that's really the case, that's awesome.

I've never understood why Satellite Radio hasn't caught on very well. Why are people so willing to pay to watch cable TV but seem loathe to pay to listen to commercial-free, largely DJ-free, radio? Especially since you get a MUCH greater variety of music (and sports, and comedy, etc.) with satellite.

I got XM before it and Sirius started the bidding war for baseball, football and college. Unfortunatley for me, the Royals suck (although I love listening to Denny Mathews), and Sirius had the NFL and Big 12. So now I can get the Royals, Chiefs and MU on one service. Hallelah-freaking-lujah.

And I could give two farts about Stern. Just bring on the sports, and don't screw with XM comedy and music.

I seldom listen to the radio, so I never even considered getting it. I use my iPod in my car and it's commercial free, too.

I use both. My XM is a good gateway to new music. I've found a lot of new bands by listening to XM. But I also love the ability to have my iPod, and no CD jewel cases or whatnot littering my car. I can't imagine going without both at this point. Then again, I also have 3-4 days a week where I'm in the car for 3 1/2 hours one way.

Why is everyone so sure the FCC will turn this down? Hasn't it loosened corporate ownership restrictions to the point that they basically no longer exist in radio and TV? And monopolizing radio in favor of Clear Channel and TV in favor of a handful of giants affects a lot more people than lil' ol satellite radio.

This will pass sometime before Bush leaves office. Bank on it.
