Wow, I hope this works out for Memphis but one has to think this is the old "we are tired of getting turned down so let's get someone, anyone in here to save face" knee-jerk by administrators.

And in the crazy world of big-time athletics, Leonard Hamilton has cashed in on his one NCAA Tournament appearance (and zero NCAA Tournament wins) with a new five-year deal......

That is ludicrous and far more worthy of scrutiny than what Kentucky gave Calipari or Calhoun's salary.

Cameron Dollar to Portland State? Just throwing that out there. PSU has a history of hiring young guys (McKay, Sobotka, etc.)

Wow, Pastner. Really? Again, wow. Pastner.

Didn't Rice say "no" to him last year?

Cameron Dollar should get to start at Kentucky if Pastner gets Memphis.

Kern Bone is a solid hire for the Cougs. He'l stay there a lot longer than Bennett.

Rumor is the top PSU assistant will be elevated to that job.

UW assistant Jim Shaw might be the new guy at Seattle U. That would also be a solid hire.

And all this talk about "facilities" when refering to Arizona is ridiculous. Man, just walk outside in November, December, January or February and it's already a better job than Pitt, especially if A, Lute shows immediate support and shuts the hell up or B, just shuts the hell up period.

Awesome. I don't know much about him, but I'll take your word on him.

Arizona basketball is the only game in town.

    No NFL.
    No MLB.
    No NHL.
The college football team is second fiddle.

Shit, there isn't even a big NASCAR race or PGA event in the town, right?

Pitt might seem nicer now, but the potential at UofA is much, much greater.

No surprise. Word was out of Tallahassee that Leonard Hamilton was on the hot seat going into the season. Earned his way far off of it (much to zag's dismay).

Someone in Tallahassee figured out that the program needs to continue the first momentum it has had in a long time, and the first step was to give Hamilton an extension, if for no other reason than to give him some recruiting leverage.

My favorite stat? Hamilton has had a 100 percent graduation rate since his arrival in Tallahassee. See, Bobby? It can be done.

Yeah, Hamilton recruits 3-4 kids a year, on average. Bowden is going with classes of 20-25. There's a reason why the NCAA does not break down basketball graduation rates based on race — the classes are so small, you could figure out who graduated and who did not not.

Exactly. It's literally all the city has (well that and the "rodeo"), so boosters just pour money into it.

No arguments on the difference in class sizes. But still, 100 percent is not something which should be quickly dismissed. And let's face it ... the word on cheating within the football program is not exactly showering that program with glory.

Of course if he was recruiting great players he wouldn't have a 100 percent graduation rate because they'd be leaving early for the NBA.

Tucson has the Match Play tournament in February (for now at least). Well, Marana does. Tucson suburb. Same thing.
