Appalachian will have to look elsewhere for its new coach.

Good for the App State folks. Didn't see Buzz Peterson as the right fit this time, anyway. He wanted to make that jump again when he took the job in Conway. When he went to the Bobcats, it indicated that being paid and having a cushy job was much more important than getting down to brass tacks and building and maintaining a program.

Good for Buzz if he wishes. Better for Appalachian State that it look elsewhere.

    Re: Gus Gilchrist
I think he attended Maryland for a semester. Was ineligible to play for the Terps. Left and became a free agent and wound up at USF when they hired his AAU coach/personal trainer/charlatan as an "assistant strength coach and video coordinator" or some such thing.
Didn't help the Bulls much. They're still one of those Big East programs you can't name if you're forced to list all 16 of them.

He didn't, so far as I know. I think it'll be a DI job in two years or so, and tourney-eligible in four? But, you're right, definitely a step down. I honestly thought Grand Canyon was a JC school all these years.

Grand Canyon needs to take a long hard look at Longwood University basketball.
