That isn't even close to my point. Hell, I had very little game when I was younger, thinner and had more hair. I just somehow lucked into finding Mrs. OOP. My biggest problem was a lack of confidence. Very often I did assume that women were out of my league. Sometimes I was right. Sometimes I found out later that I couldn't have been more wrong.

If you start assuming that the person you want doesn't want you, they won't. If you believe you always have a shot, you will be much more successful with the opposite sex.

It's like what coaches tell athletes. In order to be good, it's important to believe a lot of stuff that isn't true.

Reviving one of my favorite SJ all-purpose threads, this time with some entertainment...

My roommate and a couple of other friends have decided I'm their new dating charity case. They're making it their mission to find me a boyfriend and the first victim called me last night. We're going out to dinner Monday. This should be ... interesting.

You never know. Maybe you'll like the guy.

Are said roommate and friends single or attached?

I've read that blind dates arranged for single friends by those already in relationships tend to be dicey. Still, I guess it beats sitting at home.

Ditto! My gf is someone my cousin had been dying to set me up with for years. It can work out.

Famous, if fictional, example of an aunt setting up her nephew.

One is married, two are single. All three generally make bad dating/relationship choices, IMHO.

And, of course, all three advertise what I do/where I work to potential dates. So that'll be fun.

I mostly don't see this going well because of the types of guys they generally know and/or date. But I'm trying not to just roll my eyes and blow them off, even though that's what I'd rather do.

Perhaps you can parlay this into blog fodder? An advice column? Reality TV? ::)

"Dating ducky: A career girl looks for love."

I'd DVR the shit out of that.
