WHY? Why would a person want to talk to, much less have a relationship with, an ex? Sorry, I just don't understand the reason anyone would even want to do such a thing.

You'd be surprised. I'm real close with one of my exes. She's probably the sweetest, most caring girl I know...it just didn't work out when we were together. Then again, it was high school when we were together, so maybe that's part of it.

Sitting here restin' my bones, listen to Dylan and Cash dueting on Girl From the North Country Fair, half buzzed on Heinie. Perfect for thinking about getting dumped 40 years ago. And I worry about being laid off after the election?

I been shot at and shit on. Still drawing breathe and drinking beer.

One step after another, children. It ain't easy, but sometimes its fun. Sometimes not.

Fuck 'em if they can't take a joke. OHHH-AHH

I'm dealing with a recent break-up and we ended rather smoothly, although she said she wanted "to see how I'm doing every once in a while."

I can't have it that way though. I still have some feelings for her and know that if we start talking again I'll end up in a miserable disappointed mess.

Ding ding ding. I mean, you can't be in love with someone for three years, date them for nearly two, then just within two months be ready to be friends. At least I can't. So while I care about him greatly, and wish I could be strong enough to make that happen...it's not possible.

I'm sure it's different with all people. But I know what my reasons are. But this isn't the View and I'm not Johnny Drama, so I'm not discussing them here.

I think it all depends. Some people just weren't meant to be together, tho they may have had much in common, and they can certainly part as friends and still communicate. But yeah, sometimes you just gotta dynamite, because chances are, they've already done so.

I'm talking about really and truly being in love with a person and sharing an entire life together. After all that, I just don't believe they can be friends.

Not asking for the sharing of details, but if it is something that has worked out for you, that's great. Just not sure it's something I could do. People have to do whatever works best for themselves.

  11. My last two relationships have kind of gone in separate directions once they ended. Both times I was the one getting kicked to the curb.

After not speaking to my most recent ex for 10 months, I tried to e-mail her the other day, asking her how she was doing and such. She e-mailed me back saying to never contact her again.

A person who dumped me about three years ago still talks to me through e-mail and text messages at least once a week and once told me the biggest mistake she ever made was breaking up with me. But we were friendly long before that ever came out. It took some time, but we got to a point where I think we're both happy with where our lives have gone.

I think whether or not being friends works just depends on the people involved. Being around someone you're so emotionally intimate with can bring back a lot of feelings and thoughts you may not want to feel or think. At the same time, being so emotionally intimate with someone can also give you someone you can trust and who truly understands you when you're going through some rough times.

I think exes are like movies. There's some that you want to come back and see tomorrow, there's some that you'll wait until it's out on DVD and then maybe rent to see again, and then there's some that you just totally disregard you ever saw and were ever made.

It just all depends on the personality of the individuals.

I got one of those "never contact me again" messages too from an ex. After five months of silence she contacts me. So here we are again. Is it worth it to go through all the friend bullshit to make it work? Only time will tell. But I think I already have the answer.
