Great stuff Coco. Forgive me for jumping in but wanted to put out my own list of one song.

All this WLS talk reminds me of John "Records" Landecker.

Many years ago I got his autograph for a friend who grew up in southern Minnesota and would listen to WLS at night. She found out I'd have the opportunity to get her something and she called me.

Nice guy in my very brief encounter. He personalized a publicity shot and I framed it for her.

The Kinks are a great band that, for whatever reason, were overshadowed by many of their British peers. We had four votes for the Kinks, and here's two of 'em — tributes to radio and movies, respectively:

No. 77: AROUND THE DIAL -- The Kinks
No. 76: CELLULOID HEROES -- The Kinks

Here's a video montage backed by the latter, from YouTube:

    Thanks, Boom.

And I'm totally cool with "long distance dedications" such as yours.

No. 75: RACING IN THE STREET -- Bruce Springsteen

A great pick from one of the Boss's best albums, Darkness on the Edge of Town

Here's a video clip of him performing it back in the day:

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Speaking of epics put to music, it never occurred to me until doing this countdown that these next two songs could be fraternal twins:

No. 74: JUNGLELAND -- Bruce Springsteen
No. 73: JESUS OF SUBURBIA -- Green Day

We won't stop until we reach the top!

No. 72: DAUGHTER -- Pearl Jam
No. 71: AND YOUR BIRD CAN SING -- The Beatles

A great "John" song from one of the Beatles best albums, "Revolver."

UNLESS you were a 1960s Beatles fan in the U.S., where their albums were regularly scrambled by Capitol Records. Here, it was shoved onto "Yesterday ... And Today."

Two songs about summer nights, two different singers:

No. 70: SUMMER NIGHTS -- Van Halen
No. 69: DANCE THE NIGHT AWAY -- Van Halen

    Sammy on vocals:

    Diamond Dave on vocals:

No. 68: I CAN SEE FOR MILES -- The Who

A great clip of them performing the song when it was brand new, in 1968:

    Nice sweater vest, Pete!

A "deep cut" from the Sticky Fingers album:

No. 67: MOONLIGHT MILE -- The Rolling Stones

Back to the Kinks again. Here's a great pick from Trey Beamon, the No. 2 track on the concept album, "The Kinks Area the Village Preservation Society"

No. 66: DO YOU REMEMBER WALTER -- The Kinks

No. 65: KASHMIR -- Led Zeppelin

If you had to pick one album that personifies 1970s Arena Rock, it would probably be Physical Graffiti.

And if you had to pick one song, it could be this one.

No. 64: TAXMAN -- The Beatles

No. 63: DAY TRIPPER -- The Beatles

Two of George's finest efforts, from two of the Beatles' best songs.

    Rest in Peace, George.
