The Smith's "Stop Me If You've Heard This Before". I probably have heard it before, but I don't remember it, so don't stop me.

The Smiths! I never heard any of this 120 Minutes stuff before I got to college.

Never got into The Smith's. Strangely enough, their brand of Thatcherian pop didn't resonate with this bratwurst-eating dope from suburban Milwaukee.

Man! England is so HARD CORE! LOOK AT THE VICTORIAN BLIGHT!

The Smith's would get their ass kicked by even a marginally decent football hooligan.

This song title is so long, it couldn't even fit on the screen.

It's no wonder, 10 years later, teens of the 90s who were kids when The Smith's were around turned to heroin in Trainspotting-style excess.

"A Town Called Malice" by The Jam. I didn't know this band either until much later but I like this song now. This, like "Bad Reputation," looks like it was made on a budget of $10.

The Jam's "Town Called Malice". Great song, but another I don't recall being played much on MTV in original release.

The Jam couldn't have changed their sound more over their lifespan. No one would have guessed in 1977 that they'd be making soulsy singles.

INXS "Don't Change." Fantastic song. This band would still be doing good business if Hutchence were alive. Damnit.

INXS "Don't Change". MTV did play this a lot, but I didn't really get it at the time. It took "What You Need" to wake me up.

I honestly think INXS is underappreciated and I doubt I would have said that even five years ago.

My brother and I went to a bar and someone played, like, 10 INXS songs in a row on the jukebox. It hit me right. I dug damn near all of them.

Poor Michael Hutchence. I hope he had a kick-ass orgasm before he went to the great beyond.
