Aerosmith "Angel." Believe this was a hit in the spring of '88. I can imagine longtime Aerosmith fans were furious with their favorite band selling the fuck out. I would like to go back in time and tell them they ain't seen nothing yet, wait until they sing the song for a meteor movie starring Steven's daughter.

    Aerosmith's "Angel". I dig it.

This is one hard rock ballad I don't have a problem with.

Unfortunately, Aerosmith didn't have a problem with it either, re-made it a shit-ton of times, and by the mid 90s, did nothing but this.

That "angel" is actually a cloud of cocaine that orbits around Steven Tyler at all times. Even up to the present.

Wait? Did the angel just give Steven Tyler an angelic hand job? How the hell have I never seen that before?

Van Halen "Dreams" with the Blue Angels! You had to be there in 1986 but this was a cool as fuck video. Still is.

Apparently Van Halen was the Pearl Jam of the '80s. They didn't do a video for the first Hagar single. "Why Can't This Be Love," and I'm pretty sure the band-less "Dreams" video was their second single. They still sold a fuckton of records--rightfully so, b/c "5150" is a great album.

Between this and "Top Gun," the summer of 1986 was something else.

Of course the live album version of "Dreams." with Van Halen playing a club show, is arguably even better. Ends with the all-time great poignant line from Alex: "For a second, it felt like it did back then." Pretty much sums up why we still go to shows.
