Best place is either a bank or official money exchange (which won't be quite as good as the bank, I don't believe). If I'm not mistaken there's a currency exchange office in the Toronto Convention Centre which is right beside Skydome/Rogers Centre.

If you want to change loonies to US bucks WHILE in Canada, you'll have to do it at an institution.

    Does that answer your question?

JR, I'm wondering where I'll get more value: by changing to Loonies before I go into Canada, or when I'm in Canada?

You'll probably get about the same exchange rate at a bank on either side of the border. Ultimately it depends on how much if anything an institution charges for the service. (At my bank it's free for customers)

As has been pointed out, you'll get a worse exchange rate when you pay for things in U.S dollars in stores, restaurants, etc.

Same is true if you're in the U.S.. and trying to pay for things with Loonies.

Can't wait for this weekend, boys and girls. For the young and young at heart, I'll lead a drinking all night crawl and barf, from eight till eight.

    El Matador, here we come.

i usually just go to an atm and get money out of it instead of going to a bank and physically turning greenbacks into queenportraits. it works fine.
