This current board appeared on October 8th or 9th, 2002....I know there was NO board for a couple of months before that, I know this because I met Boom at Stan's the first week of October, when there was no board at all.

    EDIT--nice job FootballBat.

    Holy God.

    I didn't even realize I registered on Oct. 10, 2002.

I was a lurker for years before y'all sucked me in, however.

And I've got Fenian beat in seniority by almost a full 15 minutes.

Go get me a Guinness, Noob!

Sadly, the Bandwagon Boy Crash wiped me off that list--took all my posts with it (thank mericful God).

    I'm talking medieval history here.

We've all agreed the current board goes back to 2002.

What I'm trying to find out is when Johnson originally created his board over at sportspages.

    Anyone at all remember?

Here's what I remember.  You and I had a big debate on the old board about outing yourself as a woman.  In a nutshell, I said we shouldn't, you said we should-- big knockdown dragout on the old board.

That HAD to have been in August 2002.  Why?  I spent so much time arguing with you, I was late to our station summer party that night.  It was not like me to be late for a party with free food and booze.  That party was in August of '02.  I think the old board disappeared shortly after that.

Then maybe a month later, when I typed in the URL sportsjournalists.com, I saw a new page with a "Coming Soon."

Mid-major: Jonaco's description of a newspaper that is a rung or two below the biggest shops in the industry, yet has more on the ball then your average 50k pennyshopper. Usually has at least one major professional beat, or covers the hell out of multiple BCS conference teams.

I am so confused. I remember the Wally Matthews column. Guess it was the old board. Now I am wondering why I didn't register here until November, 2002, not October. All I did for several years was lurk anyhow, and post once every couple of months. Man, have things changed.

I totally believe you.  Of course, you weren't Lugnuts in those days...I do remember that debate well.  My whole issue was that there were NO WOMEN openly posting on those boards, which were wildly hostile to women. I too waited a long time to admit 21 was female (and I have only posted as 21, always)....but then realized what a disservice we were doing to ourselves. There are so many smart women in and around the business, why were we not proud of it?

I truly believe that the women who post here have opened a lot of eyes and raised a lot of awareness about a lot of things, some completely stupid and some really important.

Why does everyone keep assuming that's me in the photo? I'll set the record straight again. It's Lugnuts. I tell him what to put on the sign, he takes the picture and e-mails it to me so I can add it to my sig.

As always, I thank those who have come before me. I, too, chose a ambiguous name and it was quite a while before I "outed" myself as female on here.

Wally Matthews definitely was on the old board. I say this because I joined this incarnation (as typefitter) fairly early on... And I can that because my post about the guy who died downstairs had to be in the fall of the 2002. (It was cold but not snowy yet, and I moved out of that building in the spring of 2003.)... And Wally had gone on before I came along.

So, yeah, Wally was the old board, definitely.
