For the record, it is not cool to try and figure out who a person is by reading all of their posts and trying to pin them to a geographic area.  I tried to do this in my early days and was politely told be several that board had a, "don't ask, don't tell" policy regarding actual identitites.

One more for the list (hopefully it isn't a D_B):

(Username)=Name of Prominent Figure or Poster:  I can't tell you the origins of this term, but it usually comes up when somebody make a comment that might have been also made by the prominent figure.  For example, if I talked about how well things were going in Iraq, you might see . . Just_An_SID=George W. Bush. (Of course, that would open another can of worms).  It is very similar to Thanks For Stopping By term only a little less snotty.

Kate McDowell Student sex columnist at an Ivy League school. Someone here linked to a column she wrote that was a how-to on anal sex. The word "flecked" never again had the same meaning to board members. A year ago, someone reported on here that she worked for Peter King.

____SportsJournalists.com or sj.ca A term for a group of posters who are from a certain region or country. nySportsJournalists.com (or nynjSportsJournalists.com) was the first usage of the term. Other past usages: clevSportsJournalists.com, bostonSportsJournalists.com, calSportsJournalists.com.

    Thank you!

And speaking of the SJ Summer Novels:

Terry Haute -- failed football star, busted up his shoulder falling from a balcony in Vegas after the Irish mob tracked him down. Hooked up with Shanna Ricahrds, NFL-cheerleader turned prize-winning journalist. Thought they could carry on in private, until someone videetaped them in bed, and sent the tape to her boss.

Never did finish that one either, but I know they are happy together.

You never forget your first troll. Sauronseye was mine. Later known as Press Box Bingo. Definitely in the SJ Troll Hall of Fame.

But I thought he was still around in a different guise?

The most fun I've ever had here was working on that novel. I think it also bonded 21 and I for life. :)

I'm sad that we never finished it, but holy shit, was it good while it lasted.

Yes, bubs, he became poloponies (where he was the worst thing to ever be on the board, basically terrorizing the place for a couple of months). Then he was made to go away, and now he's around in a much better, tho still occasionally sarcastic form.

    See also aliases.

He's still here and as pretentious as ever. I GUARANTEE it.

What happened there? Other than we pissed everyone off by refusing to let them mess with our characters, and kept yanking the story wherever we wanted it to go, and were probably rude and arrogant to anyone who dared post on it? Other than that, why didn't we ever get that thing finished??

Great sex in that story. Sigh.
