The lolcat stuff is text slang? I just thought it represented the fact that cats are, well, animals and probably can't spell too well, especially with paws.

That's part of it, but there are text-like usages in lolcat pidgin...kthxbye, srsly and of course, lol.

Read it at the peril of your soul, and/or your ability to use English.

I'm with you in finding humor in using it in speech. My friends and I often use "kthxbai" at the end of conversations, "Halp," "Is it can be hugz tym now plz?" and "brb" when we go somewhere.

I don't abbreviate in texts. In fact, I don't like abbreviations. Period. A friend of my abreves -- and, yes, that's how she says that word -- everything: Ep = episode; S-Noff = Smirnoff; whatev = whatever; D.K. = Diet Coke (I don't even know where the fuck she got that).

My 18-year-old female cousin like to type easier spellings like rele (really). I hate that.

I'm with you on that. I also do not abbreviate in text messages, out of stubborn principle.

My girlfriend spells what "wat" in texts. It annoys me to know (hahahaha) end sometimes.

I don't even like using lede or graf in a work setting, let alone all that other conversational crap.

When Bubbler went on his jazz slang to talk to spnited a couple years ago, it made me giggle hard.

  11. Graf I understand, but what do you say instead of lede?
