7 to 8 works for me on a pretty consistent basis.

what I cannot do, at age 49, is roll all night the way I used to.

we drove all night to florida after I got off from work for our summer vacation and it took me a day or two to recover.

I prefer 7-8 hours, but usually wind up settling for 6.

I sleep in two shifts. Fortunately, I can sleep anywhere and at any time of day.

Because I work late --- like most of us --- I only get about 4-5 hours of sleep before I get up at 7 a.m. to play tennis.

Then, after playing and eating a high-carb breakfast, I usually crash for 2-3 hours before going to work.

I love the process of "falling asleep" so much that I actually set my clock to wake up a couple of times during the night . . . so I can fall back asleep.

It's a great feeling waking up and realizing, "Hey, I don't have to get up yet."

I just musta notta gotta lotta sleep last night

Writin' you a letter it's late in the night
Sittin' in a cafe eatin' a bite

I just musta notta gotta lotta sleep last night

Now there's two kind of people in this big 'ol town
There's the early to rise and the late to go down
I guess I oughta find a better way to stop the clock
Hot dog I like it a lot!

Please understand me everything's all right
I just musta notta gotta lotta sleep last night

To me, that sounds like a healthy person using a wheelchair for fun.

I sleep from midnight to 7 or 8 a.m. I have a 4-year-old daughter, though I've found the idea of children hindering sleep to be incredibly overrated. Even when she was 6 months old, she slept like a ... baby. Never a problem.

I've been averaging about five hours of sleep a night since making the switch to a p.m. paper.

Something -- either my sleep cycle or this gig -- needs a radical change.

The sleeping thing can be a real challenge.
I wake up every hour or two and half to read for half an hour or so. Plus I snore.
Makes me a bad sleeping companion.
Previous girlfriend was a teeth grinder. It was unbearable. I used to leave the bedroom.
One before that was a clingy sleeper.
Sleep can be a difficult balancing act.

Is it me or is this the ultimate pointless "I must tell you about my life" SportsJournalists.com thread? ;)

I guess it's proof there really is a community here, not just a series of rancorous debates.

No, there have been much worse ones.
There was one about *ss-wiping techniques.

Well, no. But this was a reminder.

Of course, I'm posting on this thread too. ;D
