SNL's Continued Downward Spiral Thread

Discussion in 'Anything goes' started by Uncle.Ruckus, Sep 24, 2011.

  1. The "nothing to say" skit had nothing to say.

But Huntsman got more quality air time than in any of the GOP debates so far. Poking fun at his polling numbers? Priceless. You have to wonder ... does he think he can be the backroom choice if the crazies cancel each other out and Mitt is too boring to win?

. . . excepting the fact there hasn't been a GOP backroom nom since Harding? Why not?

I hear where you're coming from, and I'm not busting your balls -- because I expect that's his hope . . and in terms of the nutjobs all falling on their swords, he's not far off. But since Mitt's been around the block once, Mitt's not going to do that . . . and it's heavily odds-on that the GOP is going to have to accept that flip-flopper, and like it.

Criminal how Rachel got porked by the suits at NBC. Tina Fey cast her in "30 Rock," but after the pilot was shot, either the suits had wood for Jane Krasinski or Rachel wouldn't let one in her drawers, and she was booted from the show before it was picked up.
I don't think she's gotten much work since.

"Massachusetts Afternoon" has been stuck in my head since Saturday night. I knew it was probably going to be a dumb skit, but dammit, it was catchy! I didn't even hate the lyrics, even though it was obviously supposed to be corny.

Massachusetts afternoon. Sitting on the porch, drinking cinnamon beer with you.

  5. I agree with you, Ben. I'm not saying it's a viable strategy. I'm saying it's the only one Huntsman has.

You do realize they are puppets, right?

New York Magazine did a pretty incredible research job, trying to figure out which season of SNL was the most original.

It took a year to put together and I doubt anyone envies their job of having to watch every episode. It looks great in the magazine, but the chart can also be found here.

Whuh? Of course - I just meant I wonder if the Muppeteers created their own dialogue - since I don't know if there is anyone on SNL's staff that clever.

The Muppets have always impressed me. If a lot of their stuff isn't ad-libbed, it sure does have that impression.

They can improvise, for sure. At least, Elmo can:
    .

BTW, has anyone seen the documentary about the guy who plays Elmo? Dying to see it.

    Val Kilmer cameo was interesting.
And God love her, she's talented. But am really tired of this being Saturday Night Wiig.
