She's touring with Katy Perry, which may explain why she was chosen as the musical guest.

And that would probably lead to her visibility making a quantum leap in the U.S.

I must be the only one who thought Stefon was repetitive. It's a funny bit, but when he came on, all I thought was, 'OK, here we go again.' The "spontaneous" cracking up is actually starting to look forced.

Speaking of Stefon, this is supposedly the Christmas card SNL is sending this year.

I don't mind Stefon, even though they play the crap out of it, because it feels different from the rest of the show. And it stars someone besides Wiig, huzzah!

I really liked the Sharpton show. You could tell Thompson was trying hard not to crack up while doing it, and it kind of reminded me of the old Will Ferrell sketches as Harry Carey where he was clearly improving.

The thing about Stefon is the outrageous things the writers come up with, and that is what has Hader cracking up. It's a bit repetitive, but I still enjoy it. Glad they made it shorter this week, though. Baldwin was tremendous, and the last skit was pretty good. Rest of the show was pretty much horrible. I am very close to quitting watching, and I have been defending/watching this for many years.

I've always wondered why they don't break Stefon into some of the sketches. He could be at a cocktail party and he could regale the guests with some freaking stuff from his obviously adventurous life.

He nailed Sharpton. Completely nailed it. Made my TV-producer heart flutter!

Just a note, but the very first Wayne's World sketch was at the end of the show. I believe it was the one Leslie Nielsen hosted in around 1989.

EDIT: I was right on all counts. http://snltranscripts.jt.org/88/88m.phtml

Don't know how you guys can stand the gaff. Any show which reserves Alec Baldwin a place at the table is obviously in need of remedial education, and too much of the writing remains bush-league.

I don't get that at all. Any time he does the show, you can count on him having one or two excellent moments.
