The speculation has been that Kenan is busy with his upcoming sitcom, because he "lost" the summer when he probably would have filmed it. Aidy Bryant wasn't around as much this year, and most people think it's for the same reason. Not sure about Redd and Moffatt - probably just victims of the numbers game.

Bruce Springsteen appears younger and younger while some of the members of the E Street Band seem to look older and older. I think that some sort of Dorian Gray thing.

We caught SNL about a third of the way in and thought that it was the funniest episode since John Mulaney and David Byrne.

I figured that both Kenan or Redd have to be busy or sick. I thought it might be just a fit-with-the-host (Bateman and Chalamet) thing at first but there was no need to bring in Questlove for that awful roundtable sketch if either was available. Regardless, I haven’t enjoyed this preview of a post-Kenan SNL.

The lack of male diversity has shown the last two weeks. Gone from two black male cast members to none (Che on Update aside). For so long, it's been Kenan and Jay Pharoah, or Kenan and Chris Redd.

Anyone else notice the empty organ on stage during Springsteen's first song? A nod to Federicci? Nice.

I think they stay in-house and go with Mikey Day

Alex Moffatt it is. Well, if he doesn't have Eric Trump anymore...

I have never laughed at that game show skit Wiig always does. The Christmas Morning video was good though.

Horrible episode. Even the WU tradition of Che and Jost writing jokes for each other — which I was REALLY looking forward to — was just “meh.” I do like me some Dua Lipa, though...

Having Jost read the Scarlett Johansson joke was a nice closing, but that was a rough update to get through.

Springsteen is a workout fiend and has been for decades. A locker room employee at the Rosemont arena outside Chicago told me years ago that the two best-conditioned people he'd seen while working there were Springsteen and Marvin Hagler.
