Missed the Keegan Michael Key episode - so that was nice to have a "bonus ep" after the finale. Liked seeing Andrew Dismukes on WU - he kind of bridges the Pete Davidson/Kyle Mooney type. Lauren Holt could do Aidy's stuff. The biggest problem the show has was that they haven't even tried to mine comedy out of the Biden team. Kate McKinnon played a different Trump stooge every week. Day and Moffat played the sons, etc. etc.
The show will need to establish a new identity post-Covid, post-Trump. They can't figure antics from the White House will write the show for them anymore.

    Saturday Night Live

Supporting actor/actress noms for Kenan Thompson, Bowen Yang, Aidy Bryant, Kate McKinnon and Cicely Strong. Guest noms for Alec Baldwin, Kristen Wiig, Dave Chapelle, Daniel Kaluuya and Dan Levy.

Kenan also got nominated for best actor for his own show.

What the shit, really? "Kenan" was a god damn dumpster fire of a show for the first few episodes I saw. Maybe it got better as it went along, but otherwise, that just seems like a covid-influenced "weak crop of choices" pick.

Likewise - Kenan and Aidy both missed multiple episodes of "SNL" because of their shows. I realize all they do is submit an episode or two for consideration, but still, that seems odd. Bowen Yang's nom is totally deserved though. Kenan, Kate and Cicely are probably getting the "lifetime achievement award" noms.

Of the two shows that were coupled with each other, I was hoping "Young Rock" would get a nom or two (it didn't).

"Kenan" was disappointing to me, too. I made it through a couple episodes but didn't finish the season.

I don't get Yang. The iceberg bit was the only thing he did that I ever laughed at.

And I agree about "Kenan." It was a bland sitcom. Walton Goggins on The Unicorn was more deserving, along with a bunch of others, I'm sure. They could have thrown Tim Allen a going away nom. Not saying he was worthy, but neither is Kenan.

Kenan is a likable and smart guy but that show was way too paint by the numbers. I’d have put Billy Gardell in Bob Hearts Abishola as best actor in a comedy.

I love, love Ted Lasso, but all 6 supporting roles didn’t need a nomination.

When I heard the premise of the Kenan show I was disappointed. Would have been much funnier if he was a stepdad (who secretly hated kids - or at least didn't understand them). And sure maybe the Emmys went out of their way to be less white than they usually are - no big whoop.

Kate McKinnon shows up in a NBC house add when SNL is mentioned during the Olympics so I guess she’s coming back.

Geez, half of the season premiere is probably written already - do a cold open with "Biden" doing a Jimmy Stewart-like scolding of the Taliban. "Now come on fellas! No more of that. We can' have that going on. Now you promised me you were men of your word!" and of course the inevitable Jeopardy host tryouts of those celebrities who weren't deemed good enough to give a week of shows.
Samuel L. Jackson "Now this m-fxcker" said he never told a lie...."
PeeWee Hermon "This volcano erupted in 1703 and killed more than 10,000 people, ha, ha"
Sarah Palin "The answer is....."all of them."
