I actually watched the musical guest after hearing how bad it was. I can honestly say I was just as dumbfounded - no more, no less - than I normally am for most of the musical acts I'm seeing and hearing for the first time.
I will say I figure she'll be recording a Bond movie theme as some point in the near future.

She was beyond awful. She had a pretty good voice, but the songs were terrible. I'd agree with anyone who says she was the worst musical act in SNL history, though I'm sure there have been some more terrible ones.

Never underestimate the sustained effects of the endless beating of dead horses.

I have no idea what that means.

The show sucks and has lost creativity, so top-flight musical guests don't clamor for a spot.

Oh, OK. Wasn't sure if that was a shot at me or not. Guess they have had some pretty crappy musical guests the past few years, but I did discover Florence + The Machine on SNL.

    No shot meant, or taken.

Pharoah tweeted he was just doing what everyone thought of him.

If you scan the back catalog of SNL, you can find plenty of clunkers, between bands that were hot at the time that now seem inexplicable, to just plain bad ideas (Fear) to "holy hell what were you thinking?" (Ashlee Simpson) Someone else in the thread mentioned Florence and the Machine, and they've gotten Ke$ha, Miley, Justin Beiber, Katy Perry and Kanye West in the past two years, so I think it's more of a perception thing than anything else.

I was explaining what I thought Ben meant, not that I thought that. I don't watch SNL enough to know who it books.

That isn't saying much for either his creativity, or his ability to be funny.
