In hindsight, I think that great bit they did with Judge Pirro on Update near the end of last season would've been a perfect send-off for Cecily (which I thought it was at that time).

I wish they had flipped the episodes and had the Martins host tonight, but Short's role on the live Beauty and the Beast would've prevented that.

Tonight's episode has been fine, but not what we've grown to expect from the pre-Christmas finale. Jimmy Fallon's episode was the recent standard-bearer there, highlighted by Twin Bed.

I wonder if she's doing a project or two that would keep her from the second half of the season and they had to do it now instead of in May?

Well, that was a touching send-off for Cecily.

I like Michael Che, but c'mon man, quit laughing through the punchline.

It almost seems like they signed her up for half-a-season here, except I'm not entirely sure why that made sense for either side. Sure, she's a talented performer, but they have others that can do most of her roles.

    Nice tribute and compilation.

Where does Cecily rank among the all-timers? She's funny, a great impressionist and is a great singer.

I'd put her ahead of McKinnon and Wiig. Definitely above the likes of Shannon, Oteri and Gasteyer. The era between the return of Lorne and the mid-90s was dominated by the men. I'm too young to have truly appreciated the OGs of Radner, Curtin and Newman, so I can't really compare.

Is Cecily the GOAT of SNL women?

I’d put Radner ahead of Strong, but those represent two totally different eras.

Loved Strong as Che’s neighbor and Pirro.

    1, Radner
    2, Fey
    3, Poehler
    4, Wiig
5, Oteri -- Severely underrated because her career tanked after SNL.
    6, Hooks -- see No. 5.
    7, Shannon
    8, McKinnon
    9, Strong
10, Louis-Dreyfus -- who kicked it in after she left SNL.

(I can be brutally frank because it's not an "RIP Cecily" thread.)

I’d agree with Poehler that high for her Sarah Palin rap alone.

I can't believe I blanked on Amy & Tina. They do deserve to be near the top.

Wiig certainly benefited from her longevity, but I was never a huge fan of hers. Even if she probably had the greatest farewell of all with Mick Jagger, Arcade Fire and the cast.

Strong was the Phil Hartman of female castmembers - probably unfairly loses points because she never played a major political figure or created an iconic one, so versatile.
