Very fun. Looked like Yang broke during the Sally O’Mally sketch when Molly kept hiking up the pants and showing her assets.

I really enjoyed that episode. It was nice to see how much everyone seemed to love and appreciate Molly. She's an all-timer who sorts of gets forgotten.

I haven't watched this season or anything in the last 15, hell. But I seem to be reading enough good reviews from enough different people to suspect SNL may actually be in, dare we say it, an upward spiral?

Agree … and I’ll add a get-off-my-lawn comment that the Jonas Brothers songs actually resemble music, unlike many SNL musical guests in recent years.

It really seems like SNL is struggling to find hosts this season.

The back half of the season has been better as the writers and cast become more in sync. A lot of it is casting the right person for the right sketch, it probably also helps that they don't have a "dominant" cast member like a McKinnon or Wiig who seems to suck up a lot of oxygen.

Agree on the host thing - at this point of the year, most of the broadcast TV shows have wrapped for the year.

    What makes you say that?

This seems like a pretty good list

    Miles Teller
    Brendan Gleeson
    Megan Thee Stallion
    Jack Harlow
    Amy Schumer
    Dave Chappelle
    Keke Palmer
    Steve Martin & Martin Short
    Austin Butler
    Aubrey Plaza
    Michael B. Jordan
    Pedro Pascal
    Woody Harrelson
    Travis Kelce
    Jenna Ortega
    Quinta Brunson
    Molly Shannon
    Ana de Armas
    Pete Davidson

Bringing in multiple former cast members - especially one who just left - makes me think that. And Chappelle’s annual appearance is getting stale.

It was only Chappelle's third hosting job in six years, plus his cameo for Eddie Murphy's monologue. Don't think he's getting stale yet -- he's just become a tradition for the election day episodes.

I'll give you that it might be a little early for Pete to be back as host, but I don't see a big problem with having one or two alumni host each year.

Molly Shannon is kind of an odd choice, and it does seem soon for Davidson to come back. But Shannon was good, and Lorne seems to have some kind of fatherly affection for Pete. The rest of the season has had plenty of wattage, ranging from classic A-listers to up-and-comers to TV and music stars.

Has anyone ever hosted the show within 12 months of his or her departure? Lorne always felt like Bill Belichick: Once you're gone, you're dead to him, at least until he needs you again. But as Sgreenwell noted, Lorne has a soft spot for Pete. Doesn't everyone though? He's a fuckup but he's our fuckup.
