I have only seen Tate McRae on commercials, but I feel pretty safe in saying, think Olivia Rodrigo.

This showed up on Facebook. Tate McRae sounds like a dude who sings country, but nope.

Her latest single peaked at #14 on the Hot 100, so it seems like a strange reach for musical guest in a way. The album its on doesn't come out until Dec. 8. Its weird to have the less successful version of Olivia Rodrigo on instead of just booking the genuine article, but maybe they're saving her for a more prominent show, or she's going to pull double duty at some point.

They've done worse with artists than peaking at No. 14. They've gone pretty obscure from time to time in recent years.

I ran into Olivia Rodridgo -- or more precisely, she nearly ran into my car -- while she was driving a white G-Wagen with a couple of her squad in the parking garage at the Temecula mall a few weeks ago.

That Tate person must have a great agent because she's also featured on a series of commercials for some product during NBA games.

Yeah, I guess its more of a weird middle ground thing to me, in that she doesn't seem to be either a true top selling artist or someone with lots of arty credit or buzz.

Do you think she has her driver's license, or has she been living a complete lie this whole time?!?

Tate is apparently in some of Rodrigo's music videos, so I do wonder if its some weird package deal with some of these entities. Back when late night shows were more of a big deal, you'd hear about that more. (i.e. If you want Julia Roberts on your show, you also have to book the second lead from a pedestrian NBC sitcom that she shares an agent with.)

Take your like and beat it, buddy. (This is a perk of having an 11-year-old daughter, I know modern-ish music for the first time since the early 2000s)

I can't tell if it's a function of my advancing age, or if there really aren't as many music "stars" as there were in the '60s through the 2000s.

A lot more artists with dedicated, but smallish fan bases.

Enjoyed the cold open with the meta jokes about the cast members chosen to play the GOP candidates.

Wonder if the baby face song was intended to be the basis of the monologue earlier in the week before the SAG strike ended, and then they tweaked things a bit.

The Britney audio book auditions bit was great. Chloe Fineman sounds uncannily like her.

The audition sketches are always a great go-to for SNL. But I'm amazed that current cast members are now doing impressions OF Bill Hader and John Mulaney.

Heidi Gardner was great in Update. I notice they never have the guests on Che's side when there's a mess to be made.

And nothing wrong with this boygenius group.
