I think people figured Wiig and Sudeikis to be short-timers (still hoping Armisen decides its time as well) - the surprise is how little development of the rest of the cast has gone on. I think Taran Killem and Nasim Pedrad are quite good, but the rest of the newbies haven't really broken out.

Not a Killem fan, though he has his moments. If the show is as bad as everyone seems to think now, what happens when its three best cast members leave? A lot of people don't like Wiig, but she is quite talented. They just drive her more annoying skits into the ground. Sudeikis steals a a lot of skits, and he plays a good straight man as well. Very underrated.

I like Armisen in Portlandia and don't like him on SNL. Hopefully he realizes his strength is in a non-live show and leaves SNL.

Figure Portlandia doesn't bring in huge dollars - but Armisen did snag a Peabody. Who would have thought?

It will be interesting to see if Samberg leaving impacts how often JT hosts. Apparently those two are really tight, but it's not like Samberg was fired.

Wiig will have an amazing movie career. She is so much better in movies than she ever was on SNL.

Sudeikis has done pretty well in his last few movies. I don't see him ever being able to "open" a movie, but he can have a very good career backing up a bigger star.

Portlandia isn't the kind of thing everybody is going to love, but I've found Armisen funny in most things he's done outside of SNL. Yet he rarely makes me even grin on Saturday Night live. There are some others that are like that, to lesser degrees. I think Lorne has hired talented people over the past several years, but I don't think he's necessarily picked people that fit the show.

There have been a lot of talented people on SNL whose talented haven't worked on the very specific format of the show (and more specifically, the very unique show culture). Hell, you can trace that back to Lorne's return to the show in 1985 and how much people like Robert Downey Jr., Anthony Michael Hall, Dennis Quaid and Joan Cusack bombed. Damon Wayans got fired during a show and was the toast of Hollywood on "In Living Color" a few years later.

True, it just seems like there have been a higher percentage of those people lately.

"It will be a huge blow to the show," an insider Wiig's agent told Us. "Without Andy’s video shorts and Kristen saving every skit, they’ll need help!"

Fixed! Has to be. It's the only explanation for anyone possibly thinking that Wiig saves anything on that show.

BTW, got "Bridesmaids" from the local library last week, had to abort three separate attempts to watch it because it was so completely unfunny. Made it as far as 30-40 minutes in before wanting to slit my wrists. Why did it get such acclaim?!?

Like someone else said earlier, I'm the opposite. While I hate, hate, hate Wiig on SNL, I found her to be pretty funny in Bridesmaids. While I think it's an overhyped movie in general - it basically benefits from being a grossout movie with piggish women taking the place of piggish men - it was still an enjoyable 90 minutes or so.

  11. Anybody else watching Sofia Vergara?

  12. So-so show so far, in my opinion. Vergara is kind of limited in what she can do. Most of the skits with her trending the same way so far.
