And will they ever get the idea that nobody cares about their political cold openings?

That's because they are never any good. Political openings are perfect during the election year, but they have to be, like, funny and stuff. They have had a lot of success with them in the past, but Phil Hartman is not walking through that door. Sure they wish Palin was still relevant and Fey could bail them out.

  3. Pharoah kills it with his impersonations. Why he doesn't get more air time is beyond me.

    Because that's all he has.

  5. Perhaps. Still would like to see more of that.

Overall, think they've done pretty well so far tonight.

I understand it's not everyone's cup of tea, but Gotye is doing this very, very well.

A funny opening skit, and sheer fucking unwatchable stool since then.

Agreed... and he has a sense of humor, too.

That was one of the funnier bits I've seen in recent weeks, the digital short with him.

I watched Spielberg singing "LASER CATS!" while he rolled the TV in about 10 times last night, and another four today. And I've only been awake a half hour.

I am a sucker for Laser Cats, admittedly. But he was awesome.

    "Hitchcockian!"

I guess I'm in the minority. I thought Laser Cats was terrible. The Spielberg cameo was initially funny, but the skit itself? Crap.

  12. I can't stand the Laser Cats, but then again I hate cats.

I thought the show was pretty good overall. For the first time in a while it seems like, some of the skits were funny enough that the cast couldn't keep a straight face. That always makes it funnier.

As weak as the political intro skits have been this election year, I actually thought last night's was kind of funny.
