On Wiig...I'm stealing this from somewhere (AV Club?). Her recurring characters are terrible (except for Tiny Hands Lady, whom I adore) but she's great in other sketches. That's a big reason why she'll carve out a decent film career.

I didn't really mind it that much when Fallon did it. The ones that really stood out were the Cowbell sketch, which was so fucking funny and he was hardly the only one cracking up and the Debbie Downer sketch with Lohan, where everyone was laughing as well.

I remember Spade losing it in one of the "Van Down by the River" sketches where he turned away and was clearly laughing his ass off.

"I'm pointing my fingers at you...Pointing fingers is what's going on now. Pointing fingers is what I'm doing now. Pointing fingers is today."

I'm a sucker for seeing people imitate someone in front of them. I loved the sketch with all the mellow singer-songwriters (Samberg as Jack Johnson, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Jason Mraz, Bill Hader as Dave Matthews) where Matthews played a pretty funny Ozzy Osbourne.

My issue with tiny hands lady was more that they use it way too early in the show. When there is so much going on in the world and they go with a fucking Lawrence Welk opening it just strikes me as being incredibly lazy.

Wiig is incredibly talented and versatile, but I agree that most of her recurring characters on SNL were terrible.

I love the Myers as Mick and Mick as Keith.

Carvey as Dennis Miller used to kill me too...

Oh, the funniest 30 seconds of this week's episode was the drunk fratboy asshole stumbling around at a Dave Matthews concert. Dead-on impression. Also love Dave Matthews saying, "Remember me? From college?" I once heard Dave Matthews, in the late '90s or early 2000s, described as "laundry folding music for college students." His music was so ubiquitous among college kids for a 5-10-year period that SNL really hit the mark with a couple of those DMB jokes.

Dick, imagine going to UVa during (the latter part of) DMB's heyday. You couldn't get away from him. His ubiquity was awful, and that's coming from a guy who likes some of his stuff. The dude played a concert ACROSS THE FUCKING STREET FROM MY HOUSE.

I like DMB, but I certainly understand why so many don't. It's hard to hate music that reminds you of college.

Oh, I like him OK. But with the way the media world is now, it feels like DMB might be the last music act that gets that big - I mean, they were playing football stadiums. Who can do that now?

Yeah, these days, beyond U2 and Springsteen, I doubt there are too many single acts that can fill a football stadium. That's not counting "reunion tours".

Buffett, Widespread Panic and DMB are still filling stadiums.

    And there's the thing.

"There's so much going on in the world ..."?

At 11:32 p.m. Saturday night, I don't care that there's so much going on in the world.

Give me something funny. Mindless, even. Not everything has to have depth.
