Show Saturday was a HR. One of better shows in a long time. It's been rare now that I stay with it till the end because skits seemed to get less funny as time went on.
Glad I stayed this time. Jagger was great. The guy is 68.
    Hard to believe.

"Saturday Night Live" frequently uses topical humor, based upon current events. It is one of the show's trademarks, particularly in the opening bit.

Yes, and New York is the largest city in the United States. :)

    I understand that completely.

And I smile when they have that rare opening that ISN'T political or topical.

The one where Baldwin is ragging on Palin (pretending he thought she was Fey) in front of her to Michaels was a bit uncomfortable. I think that was the same episode where Wahlberg "confronted" Samberg after the "Mark Wahlberg talks to Animals" sketch. I know it was all a joke, but Samberg definitely looked uncomfortable as hell.

I still have a hard time seeing Kristen Wiig and not thinking of her as Dr. Pat from "The Joe Schmoe Show" and seeing her get crushed in the big sumo suit and sent to the hospital.

I don't expect, or even want, the whole show to be about current events.

But the opening sketch should be based on something happening in the world. It doesn't have to be political, but something from the news.

It needs to be funny more than it needs to be topical.

  8. The hot tub skit with Ferrell and Poehler was another classic they couldn't stop laughing in.

One of the reasons 'SNL' should go away is because it has become calcified and iconic.
It should be fluid and iconoclastic.

Lorne needs to realize he's become Bobby Bowden...he needs to go out and hire himself a kickass OC to revive some life into the program. Call up the producers at The Daily Show and pluck a few from there.

The show should ride off into the sunset.

That would make you guys feel better. It wouldn't do much for the people who still think it's the best thing on late Saturday night.
