I think I remember Ferrell saying he was grabbing and tickling Fallon under the water...

    RE: Busting up during sketches.

Chris Parnell's nickname among the cast and writers was Iceman because no matter what you did, you couldn't get him to laugh in the middle of a sketch. McKay and Farrell always thought the most underrated part of the "More Cowbell" sketch was that Parnell never loses it once. He matches Farrell's absurdity with perfect straight man the entire time.

The moron set does not run our society, nor should it dictate our entertainment options.

Whenever a show, no matter how bad, goes off the air, there are disappointed viewers.
In the case of 'SNL,' I'm just surprised that the people affiliated with it creatively don't see a problem with its evolution and lowered expectations.

20 minutes of funny in a 90-minute package. Used to be 45-50 minutes of funny in the old days.

Too many skits start, establish themselves, then go much longer than they should. And eventually petering out, the tepid audience applause as the camera pulls out the only signal that yes, the ordeal is over. They're like a metaphor for the show itself. There's a cold open that seems promising, then a monologue that is usually excruciating but which still contains the promise of better things to come. Then some good moments that quickly yield to a slog of a home stretch that never peaks, but rather seems to throw out half-baked ideas to fill time (The Californians? Really?) before the host thanks everyone and the viewers wonder why they didn't just watch the reruns of Grey's Anatomy on the local ABC affiliate.

And as mentioned very early in this thread, the lauded Digital Shorts have been more miss than hit.

Have you seen the number of "reality" shows on network TV? Every flipped past E!, Bravo or MTV? Hell, even the once staid A&E - home of Met opera broadcasts - has Dog The Bounty Hunter and Storage Wars on it.

The moron set absolutely does dictate our entertainment options.

That should be the Super Bowl halftime show. Mick with Arcade Fire and Foo Fighters singing Stones songs. I thought that was the best music on SNL in years.

A blow job and a pizza party is still the best thing on Saturday.

    Well, after that.

Don't equate people who watch SNL with the moron set just because one moron said it.

    I don't.

When I think of TV shows on air thanks to the moron set, SNL isn't on my list.

39 minutes On Demand No musical performances, no Wiig farewell (but they made it onto the Hulu version)

I think one fair criticism of SNL is that too many skits seem to be "in jokes" that anyone not working at SNL don't get.

Is it wrong for me to mourn the passing of Robin Gibb a little more because it means the end of the Barry Gibb talk show, talkin' 'bout chest hair, and crazy gold medallions?

Hadn't thought about that. Just another reason to be sad about it, I guess.
