If Winston wins this week, Braxton Miller is my early favorite for 2014.

Because Braxton Miller just finished showing he's a typical Ohio State quarterback in the Big Ten final?

Miller missed a few games early in the year, but when he played he was damn near unstoppable. Injuries, of course, are always the great variable in anything like this.

It does on the football field. What's your point?

Unstoppable like Devin Gardner, Mark. If he can win with his legs, all's good. But if he has to stand up in the pocket, make his reads and make the right throw, he doesn't win you the big game that way.

That may be. He's not a great pocket passer, IMO. But he does add an extra dimension the way Griffin and Manziel did. I wouldn't rate him as a top pro prospect, but he's a very good college QB, just like Troy Smith was when he won the Heisman.

In fact, I would venture to guess that had Miller been healthy all season, he might be among the top 2-3 contenders THIS year. He's nuts if he leaves OSU early.

Sorry, but if you put a D-III quarterback on your ballot, you are just screaming "look at me."

    Another SAT update: http://www.stiffarmtrophy.com/

97 ballots. Winston with 74 first-place votes. Mason with 6.

This could push for the largest margin of victory.

    Dudek finished 9th.

The only non-Division I-A guys to finish in the Top 5 since Princeton's Dick Kazmaier won it in 1951:

Cornell's Ed Marinaro in 1971 (second)

Grambling's Doug Williams in 1977 (fourth)

Holy Cross' Gordie Lockbaum in 1986 (fifth) & 1987 (third)

Alcorn State's Steve McNair in 1994 (also third)
