    Agreed on the Stadium thing, FB. But the guy is friggin' awesome in a concert setting, especially if you have some Irish in you. He is also an overcomer of the first magnitude. I don't think I could have done what he has done after losing both legs in my teens.

    He's my favorite of the Tenors.
    More for the list --
    Tom Traubert's Blues (Tom Waits)
    The Band Played Waltzing Matilda. (Almost anyone)
    The Fields of Athenry.

    Fields of Athenry is absolutely a killer. By the way, although he isn't really Irish, John McDermott, who was one of the originals (replacing Finbar Wright due to a death in his family), can bring you to your knees with "The Old Man", a song he wrote for his late father. When he sings it, he holds the "Old Man's" stick and cap. He also does a great job on "Christmas in the Trenches".

    ESJ -- "Stolen Car" isn't a bad call, especially the "Son, You May Kiss the Bride" version from Tracks. The type of song which you could listen to over and over again alone while draining a fifth of cheap whiskey.

  5. "How Can I Help You Say Goodbye" by Patty Loveless does it to me as does "Cat's In the Cradle" by Harry Chapin.

    "Mama's Hand" by Lynn Morris. "It was hard to let go of mama's hand, my mama's hand." I tear up each and every time I hear it.

    My wife and I were in the car when this song came on the radio. Halfway through, we looked at each other and laughed at each other's tears. Possibly the saddest song I've ever heard:

    The Baby - Blake Shelton (
    )

    Other "dusty" tunes:
    When I Get Where I'm Going - Brad Paisley (
    )
    Me and John and Paul - Grascals (
    )
    Not Ready To Make Nice - Divie Chicks [the bridge does it to me] (
    )
    Three Wooden Crosses - Randy Travis (
    )
    I Will - Beatles (sister's wedding song; so glad I was the one who introduced the Beatles to her. One of the few things we'll always share, a love for the Fab Four)
    If You Ain't Got Love - Mason Jennings

    In My Life - The Beatles: For my lovely bride. There is no one compares with you ...

    I meant "In My Life" for that last song ...

    SC, "Don't Take The Girl" is a really sad song. I can't turn it off when I hear it, but when I listen to it, I can't stop thinking about how terrible, terrible that would be.

    Another sad song is Alter Bridge's "In Loving Memory." Somehow one day it ended up in my iTunes, I had never heard it, listened to it and was just downright shocked at how sad and terrible it is. I told one of my friends about it and had him listen to it, and not even halfway in he tapped out. Just a painful, sad song to listen to.
