That name is already in use. The original Sooners were land thieves who cheated on the start time of the land rush.

And they took this land from Native Americans.

Makes you wonder why "Sooners" isn't a name that offends them as much as "Redskins," "Savages" and such.

He already had one with Kansas City and its already-in-use Sprint Center.

Re: nicknames, the USBL team in Enid is called the Oklahoma Storm. Maybe they could go with Cyclones.

I stand by my earlier Outlaws post.

After all, Colorado Rockies got recycled. For that matter, so did Baltimore Orioles.

The biggest problem naming the team is that I believe the city is demanding it be called Oklahoma City XXXXX, making a multiple syllable mascot name a mouthful. They'll already be saddled with the longest city name in major sports.

They should have demanded the right to keep Sonics. They could have gotten crazy sponsorship dollars from Okalhoma's favorite restaraunt chain, plus had the coolest concessions in the league. How much would a strawberry limeade at an NBA game rule?

Jesus Christ, grow some thicker skin, Damaramu. You're sounding like a 17-year-old intern for the chamber of commerce.

but people are so mean, they want everbody to die in Oklahoma city and want all buildings to be blown up.

Enjoy your new basketball team but don't be surprised that people are pissed off at the way it happened. I don't think anybody is angry at the people of Oklahoma City, they are angry at Clay Bennett, David Stern and Howard Schultz.

I would be careful in gloating about this because don't think for a minute this can't happen to you in 15 years when your building is outdated.
