It's just a select few, mustard. The few, the proud, the chosen, who couldn't wait to bitch at what assholes most of us are for seeing something deeper in this show besides jerk-off fantasies.

I don't think Tony has any sense of dread especially this year. He turned into an animal and was pissed off at everyone for everything. I don't agree that everything is fine with Tony's family. Carmella is a shallow high maintenance bitch. Meadow is following in her foot steps as well as marrying into the mob with Patsy's son~shades of Carm and AJ is working for a mobster and is the most funked of of all. In the first episode this season Tony tells Bobby when they are on the boat alone that he has no fear of death.

If the entire premise of the final scene is that "life goes on," then why the hard cut to black? If he's trying to say the family's next six years will be similar to the last six, I just don't understand how that signifies it. The final scene honestly feels to me like Chase fucking with the people who wanted the doomsday ending.

And I'm still not seeing Tony casing the place or feeling any sense of unease in the final scene. He hears things and looks to see what the noise is. No different than you or I would, IMO. And while Tony likes to talk about a sense of dread, does he *really* live his life that way? I honestly don't think so.

I think the ending would have been perfect without the hard cut to black and the implication that something was about to go down.

I'm also willing to admit that it's Chase's show and he can end it however the fuck he wants. I'm also willing to admit that I'm by no means any kind of authority on the show.

Except for this web site, most people think the finale pretty much sucked and couldn't care less. Perhaps not regular viewers? HBO got lots of cancelllations today they announced.
Someone, and I forgot who, said on this site prior to last night that the only thing that would be a definite in the finale would be "they will be eating Italian food" and they didn't even do that.
It a pretty well known fact that Tony is "modeled" after David Chase's life. Hated his mother, went for therapy that didn't work, etc. and obviously not wrapped too tight!
I feel he made fools of us to some extent and had fun doing it.

That happens at the end of every Sopranos season.

FWIW, Bill Simmons and Peter King also enjoyed the finale:

I can't believe some people actually thought their cable went out at the end.

The hard cut to black makes you wonder if Tony was whacked, esp. considering the discussion he had with Baccala in the season's 1st episode. The ending was perfect because it makes you think, which is precisely why a lot of people don't like it.

    You're right, Pube.

Tony was happy as a clam at the end. That was the ending.

Now back to your finger paints.
