    You lost me.

Besides, the stuff Phil said a couple episodes back to justify going to war with Jersey is still true: The Soprano family is a glorified crew, and the promotion of a non-entity like Paulie into the top earner's slot doesn't suggest that Jersey is about to become "the future."

With big earners Bacala, Vito, Eugene and Ray Curto all dead, onetime rising star Chris-tuh-fuh also room temperature, Sil comatose in the hospital and Carlo apparently joining the long and illustrious line of N.J. rats, there's not much to be impressed with, right?

Also, I have to say I absolutely loved all the stuff with Agent Harris. Sheer genius.

So, the Russian coming back was implausible.

But four coincidences in an ice cream shop is "the Chase way"?

    LOL

ly lolly lolly, get your adverbs here.

The ending left it up to the viewer to decide what happened. It was different. He could've ended it a million different ways. This was an iending that no one thought of and it was great.
I personally loved the way Phil got whacked. It was funny, especially after the truck rolled over his head and the kid puking. Classic.

Ditto. As I said, it was one more illusion of Tony's that crumbled when he got close to it.

Did anyone catch the subtle racism part at the end when the two black guys came into the diner?

    Zeke,

    No doubt about it.

And Harris celebrating Tony's "win" against Phil was classic...clearly he's a bit more invested in his old job than his new one.

Here's my preliminary thoughts with the babies/cars:

We know the fascination with dead children comes from Livia, that as a sociopath, she used stories of dead children to manipulate her children and husband, not realizing/caring how horrible it sounded to them. Where a more clever person, or one with some semblance of human feeling would use something more subtle, Livia felt nothing when children died, and thus, used such stories with impunity.

But we also know that Tony isn't a sociopath. His increasing fascination with the same stories his mother told him might be hinting toward that, but we know Tony is capable of feeling emotion for people. We also know that that means he has to live with his feelings. Livia or Janice could do what Tony has to do and not bat an eye, but Tony has to deal with it.

In a weird way, Tony wishes for that a little bit. I think you could see that in the final scene with Uncle Junior. So he has to live with the worst kind of duality -- his sociopathic mother fucked him up emotionally and his father led him into a life of horrible deeds, but he doesn't even get the clear conscience that his mother enjoyed until the end.

What was the other guy there... was he a vet with prosthetic legs, because it looked like he was moving on stilts.

The quick cut gives the sense that we missed out on a significant happening.

IF we did, shame on him.

IF we didn't, don't fuck with us.... let us know that his life goes on with the four in the booth.

We've invested enough time and money in this thing of ours.
