Give them all three years of roles not nearly as good as the ones they played on The Sopranos. Then they'll be back.

That might be true of the actors (I doubt it). I don't think David Chase is going to have any reason to rush back in quite so quickly.

the problem with gandolfini is most people, including myself, see him as one role and one role only. tony soprano is a career-defining character.

Especially since most of us had no idea who he was before he got that role.

How soon we forget Gandolfini's epic work in Crimson Tide. Him and Viggo Mortenson.

To be fair, Gandolfini was in a lot of stuff before the Sopranos.

He was just typecast as the third thug from the left.

Gandolfini did some movie where he was a bumbling FBI agent trying to track down Rosie Perez and some psychotic, svengali Mexican drug dealer. Heather Graham's sister was in it too. It was extremely violent, can't remember what it was called.

I just saw the ABC News webcast and Vegas odds are that Tony will survive.

Gandolfini has a great role in Get Shorty. He's the guy John Travolta throws down the stairs in the restaurant.

And he had a smaller part with a fantastic cast in True Romance.
