Count me among those who loved the Melfi scenes. It must be terribly embarrassing to feel you've been conned by a patient but I think, like a lot of people, she was attracted to the 'romance' of the criminal lifestyle - not the reality but the perception. Reading that study for herself and seeing Tony described very clearly in it had to be a huge wakeup call.

I loved how angry she was with him (and herself I'm assuming) for making a fool of her. And Tony ostentatiously putting the page back in the magazine just showed how little real understanding or empathy for others Tony has.

Question: Is there any chance that the attempted hit on Phil was a set-up? If Parisi is the inside guy it makes sense that he sends them to the goomar's house on the wrong night. If that was her night to see him, would her Dad be coming home just then? Now Phil is safe, the hitters are on their was back to Italy and Tony's family is on the hook for killing civilians. (Aside: How much did I love "Double Uke Slay in Queens". Looked like the Toronto Sun)

Patsy Parisi doesn't have the stuff to off Tony. He had a perfect opportunity after his brother died and what did he do? He peed in Tony's pool. Patsy just isn't ruthless enough to off someone in the name of business--just like all of the characters in the show; they are all too flawed for the life, they can't put personal stuff aside. Phil keeps referring to the time he spent in jail and his brother. As if he's the only one who has had a loved one offed in the business and did a stint.

With the family under siege, Paulie still took a moment to comment on AJ's new thin squeeze: "Look at the stems on blondie, heh, heh, I bet he's ridin high.''
    Classic Paulie

Paulie, never wrong. It seems he has that grievance with Tony. Everyone has such great ideas about what the ending will be,
especially the dream sequence. People will be pissed off if it's a Bobby Ewing repeat.
One hour can't begin to cover what we want, which Chase would never give us.
Can't wait for next Sunday! T.V. guide is not even saying a thing.

  5. anyone notice Sil crawling around his car in desperation similar to Adreanna's last moments (I probably think too much about these things but maybe a little bit of karma)...

my prediction is that Tony flips to save his family. His mob family is gone--seriously, who is left that he even likes or trusts that much? I think Carmela puts the thought in his head, Tony flips to take down Phil's family (which as was mentioned by the FBI in season 1, is the real family the feds are after). Tony ends up like Kevin Finnerty--and Carmela, a horrible person in her own right, loses everything and realizes she's married to a guy she can't stand and had no money to boot.

Since everything Tony touches turns to shit, the fact that he flips will impact Meadow, as she can now no lonfer date a guy she apparently really likes.

i'm probably wrong, but that's my 2 cents on how it will end.

the other intriguing thing about phil was how he yelled at tony and little carmine from his attic as they were leaving. he revealed that despite his tough talk, he's a coward at heart. he's also not boss material (even though i realize he's boss of NY now). he knew tony wasn't there to kill him so why yell at him as he was leaving? a good boss lets the underlings take care of it and stays in side with his mouth shut. but phil is a pussy.

  7. The Feds DO have a guy inside Phil's crew. What's to say Tony & chums don't go down in a hail of gunfire, only to have the Feds promptly move on Phil?

Or, the Feds move in at the showdown and bust everybody.

Does anyone know if the study on sociopaths and therapy is real? I'm curious about that.

Each time Melfi shows up on the screen in her office I just sigh to myself. I'm glad that is wrapped up and done before next week.

  11. I found it, sort of. The author apparently deleted the original post but it was immortalized in a quote.

Tony doesn't commit suicide, it's completely against character. Parisi may not have the cajoles to kill Tony himself, but he's a weasel enough to spy for Phil. Phil's enough of a prick to kill Patsy for being a traitor to Tony. There ought to be some connection between Meadow dating Parisi's son and the Tony-Phil war, otherwise it's just too random a plot line.
