Funny line by the Sopranos writer Terrence Winter, on Slate, addressing the issue of the music in the latest episode:

"On to the music. First, the use of Cavalleria Rusticana is Raging Bull and Raging Bull only. Godfather III does not exist for me. It ceased to exist at 3:30 p.m. on Christmas Day, 1990, when I walked out of the first-ever showing at the Kings Plaza Shopping Center Multiplex in Brooklyn, utterly heartbroken at what I had just witnessed."

    Pancamo is 100% correct..
it is the way old Italians refer to pizza, although more often than not it sounds like they're saying "ah-beets"

I heard my father and uncles say it thousands of times.

After catching the episode last night, and watching the Music of the Sopranos short on In Demand, I'm ordering the "Men Without Women" CD (I have the original LP from 81/82) in memory of our favorite flesh entrepreneur. One of the great lost albums from my college days.
The things men without sense do, I just don't understand.

I'm sorry. I have a cold. I'll listen again when I'm all better.

Thanks for clearing that up, gents. You really do learn something new every day.

Except when they had that bit in season 3 (I think) about the portrayal of Italians in the media as gangsters, which seemed to be a message towards critics of the show.

Yes. And hilarious. I laughed out loud. Good stuff.

Of course, it doesn't mean people who heard the music and thought of "Godfather III" as well as "Raging Bull" are wrong to make both associations. It's part of their cultural experience and their experience of the genre, so they're entitled to their response, even if Tony and Sil were making an overt reference to "Raging Bull."

I watched it at the same theater on the same day (although at night). And I feel the same way.

The news about Bobby B. should have been in a spoiler, of course. Dont worry that it took anything away though, because I didnt know about it, had not read it, and it was obvious to me that he was going to get it in that store.

The shot to the onlookers during the shootout made me laugh, it reminded me of the sceene in Cheers where Sam and Diane have a fight and when they open the office door everyone is piled against the door listening. Very funny part of that shootout sceen.

Except there is no B or P sound in what Carlo says.

Since Chase is working hard to demystify the mob, my guess is Tony gets it abruptly and without warning. No explanation. No time to reflect. Roll credits.

I think it would be a great ending.
