    Her all-about-me profile is a riot. Auburn doesn't have 2 mascots, but she wrote for the Plainsman. Um, that's three. And it's Super Bowl, not Superbowl.

    But best of all -- she likes playing with her 2 puppies. Is that what the kids are calling it these days?

    To be fair, all Patch editors are apparently required to answer those personal questions on their profiles.
    Just don't use the word "liberal" and you're probably good.

    And no mention of a boyfriend. Like a pop star, you have to appear attainable. It drives up the page views.


    I have no doubt she was required to answer the questions. That's what makes it so absurd.

    It would be bad enough if she just posted it on her own, but that it's policy is ridiculous.

    It's against the law for a potential employer to ask those questions prior to employment. It's still weird to ask them afterwards.

    And, their bound to be sued eventually by someone who claims that they were fired for their political or religious beliefs.

    Seriously hyper-local. If you google Arlington Patch, this site doesn't even come up in the first couple of pages. They are really identifying themselves with two neighborhoods and all of a one mile stretch of Arlington.

    Patch wants its journalists' biases out front. It also gives a way for readers/viewers to connect with the editors. Let's face it, the media nowadays is about personality, and I don't think it's a bad idea for their site editors to have bio pages.

    My editorial comment was more on the gamer. It's a waste of resources. The link here probably increased its clicks by 10-fold.

    Moddy's observation about quality aside, from the very well-done New York Times article posted on this thread a few pages ago I would imagine we're going to have a Patch.com obit page in less than two years' time.

    Until our local Patch writers learn to put the final score in their basketball game stories, I'm not going to lose too much sleep over 'em ....

    Sounds like a New York directive. My former boss is now editor of a Mass. Patch site, and she just put out the word yesterday looking to create a moms council.
