So proud to see Kindred use "dreck" for BR.

From a friend of mine who is likely to be covering the NCAAs for Fanhouse. "I may start covering it, but who knows if I'll get to finish."

We're going into the final weekend. And while I consider myself fortunate to have found a great new job that I'm excited about, I'm still sick over what's happening to what I think is a tremendous site. I'm very biased of course. But still. This is going to be a very difficult weekend.

Terrible. Best of luck to everyone. Been through it (two years ago this weekend). It sucks.

    Moddy,

Is it true that nobody is getting any severance and nobody is eligible for unemployment?

No unemployment? How did AOL pull that one off? Also, I'm guessing they have (had?) more than 50 employees. How did they get around the WARN Act?

Has TSN announced who they hired from Fanhouse? I think it's fairly common knowledge which four columnists they hired, but I haven't seen anything on these boards.

    Let me add this:

*I have no idea what the "full-time" AOL employees got. I'm a contractor. The package they gave me was, quite frankly, much better than I had reason to believe I'd get. I have talked to several other contractors, but not all, and they told me they got the same package I did. Do the legally owe us more? No idea. Perhaps - I'm not a contract lawyer. But we stop working on Monday, we get regular pay for another two weeks and then we get a chunky check two weeks after that. I can't imagine it isn't the same for all contractors.

*AOL can't decide who is and who isn't eligible for unemployment. It varies by state and we have people in lots of states. I do know, had I not found another job, I would have been eligible at the end of my severance period. Yes, I checked.

And as for the Final Four, yeah, we all know. But it isn't up to me to say. That is Sporting News' announcement.
