Is there a chance that any of "final four" will not accept?

Moddy, if/when you find out where people land -- and not necessarily the high-profile columnists -- we'd love it if you could please share the news with the SJ gang.

I've either worked with or supervised about half of the FH writing staff at some point in their careers, so I'd love to hear how they're doing. Thanks for the consideration.

I'll keep the good folks at Fanhouse - including several friends - in my prayers. I'm also thinking about folks at TBD. They were told the site would be given 3-5 years, but just saw the plug pulled after only six months.

    Dang.

From what I've heard three are signed and I don't know about the fourth. At least two of them have been signed for quite a while.

Couch had the back-page column in the latest edition of the magazine. I have nothing against Couch at all, but I really liked Feinstein in that spot. And Kindred before him.

Well, then I guess Couch is official. :D

He was my favorite of the Fanhouse columnists and I was ecstatic they snagged him.

    I will.

Marc Lancaster is coming to The Times with me, I know that much. My co-football editor Matt Snyder has landed at CBS as a baseball blogger, which is a great job for him. A.J. Perez is headed there as a hockey blogger.

There's some going-away stuff next week that will be quite sad, I'm sure. If my new staff at The Times bonds and works together 20 percent as well as the editing/writing staff at FanHouse did, I will be ecstatic.

I'm seriously bummed the day is almost here. My contribution to FanHouse only amounts to a handful of freelance features, but it's the highlight of my career. I'm certainly also going to miss it as a reader.

Given that some of what you've posted that you've heard has been said by someone at FanHouse to be "not even close to true," it might not be a bad idea to back off the "what I've heard" posts a tad, at least on this particular topic.

A note from the FanHouse editorial staff:

Please note that on Tuesday, March 1, 2011, FanHouse.com will redirect to the Sporting News on AOL, which will then become the flagship sports destination for AOL in the U.S.

The Sporting News on AOL will be accessible at aol.sportingnews.com and directly from the 'Sports' link on the AOL.com homepage.

FanHouse archive stories will continue to live on AOL, while MMAFighting.com and FanHouse UK will continue normal operations as part of the AOL network.

And there's the official confirmation on MMAFighting.com. Had to figure it was business as usual when they sent Ariel Helwani to Sydney.

So does that mean MMAFighting.com is NOT part of The Sporting News now? Seems kind of crazy to buy FanHouse and then keep ... what ... a couple of columnists? What exactly did they buy other than the rights to close it?

    Good to hear about A.J.

It was an honor and a pleasure working with the great folks at AOL FanHouse. I hope I have the opportunity to work with you again. Best of luck to all.
