The Tribune Co.'s website still has this position opening listed on its website. Are packets still being accepted? Seems late for that.

    Or not. Filled:

    All,

It is my pleasure to introduce Mike Berardino as our newest Sports columnist. As a Miami native who grew up in Palm Beach County, Mike will bring strong opinions, aggressive digital skills and a deep perspective of South Florida sports history into his new role. Mike has served as Dolphins beat writer, national baseball columnist and as a columnist on many other major events, including multiple World Series, Olympics, Final Fours, Super Bowls, NBA Finals and golf majors in his 13 years on staff. Over the years, his work has been honored multiple times by the Associated Press Sports Editors. He has covered the Dolphins, with Omar Kelly, since June 2009.

Please join me in congratulating Mike. He will begin his new role as soon as the Dolphins’ season ends.

    Tim

Well, Moderator, this is what I said Nov. 26, and it stands: "maybe they don't really want to hire anyone so they are not bothering with interviews from candidates around the country."
