I hate to say it, but I kind of agree.

I'll put my money on someone from the Herald getting an offer.

And I can tell you that no one from AP or Palm Beach has been interviewed yet.

What is the fixation with naming guys who are interested in the job? Would you want your name out there if you were interested? One of the reasons why people use fictitious names here is because they fear retribution from their employers or others in the business.
Please, let's stay away from that until SOMEONE has accepted the job.

    Why would we do that?
    Drip,

I'm beginning to think you're one of the seven.

You are free to think what you like. If I have something I WANT you to know, I'll tell you.
Mizzou, you are usually one of the better poster along here. I'd like to think that you understand what I'm talking about. The economic and political climate at a lot of shops is difficult. No need to make things worse for some guys.

Every time I've been up for a job my name has been all over this board. That dates back almost a decade. I never took it personally and I never freaked out about it. It goes with the territory.

Some people are hypersensitive about it, but most people can handle it. I'm guessing if all seven candidates are from the South Florida area, all of the SEs are well aware of who's interviewing for what. There are very few secrets in this business.

I disagree. It doesn't go with the territory. It goes with people - and don't take this personally - with huge egos to feed. Unless you are Tim, or have spoken with him about this gig, you're guessing about who's interested. I just don't see anything gained by it.

You don't. I do... Considering how many PMs I get from people telling me who is up for what, I get the sense that a lot of other people do as well.

And unless you're up for this gig, you're protesting quite a bit on this specific thread.

You're missing my point. PMing who is up for the gig, and broadcasting it on a message board are two different things.

This is just too much fun...

To say that everyone knows if someone interviewed is silly. If the sports editor had a private lunch or dinner off-campus with a candidate, no one would know unless one of the two parties leaked it.
